The Headmaster's Diary - 1930

Victoria School - Kurseong.

1930

January 3rd

The office has moved down to the room adjoining the Head Masters office in the main building before the Christmas holidays, while the office in the Head Masters house was being extended.

January 15th

As it was too cold in the school building which was affecting the health of both clerks and myself, the office has moved up to my home, to one of the spare bedrooms.

January 27th

The Clerk left for Calcutta to attend a case at the High Court. He had two days leave a few days before on account of the death of relatives and four days, week before last, on account of illness. He has been away frequently at a time when the work is very heavy. I have not had a day off since my return from Calcutta, Sundays included.

February 3rd

Left for Calcutta today with the permission of the Inspector, leaving Mr Nugent in charge.

February 19th

Returned on the 19th from Calcutta.

My thanks to Kay White who assisted in typing this document together with some local knowledge from myself!

Editors Note:

There are no more HM Diary entries until the Inspector of European Schools asked the HM in 1935 where the HM Diary was!
